What does it take to be an excellent writer?
As an individual endeavors to express his or her thoughts and feelings through the written arts; how can they be certain that they are good enough to be deemed exemplary?
Is good writing a talent or skill that is enhanced through practice or is it a gift that only a selected few are born with thus its either you have it or you dont?
Its hard to say but realistic to consider that some are more versed and seem to effortlessly concuct remarkable writing material in comparison to their literary counterparts.
Some persons are natural story tellers, others can be classified as human dictionaries with a vast vocabulary especially when possessing the ability to utilize such words accordingly;
But what about the typical person with average grammatical and storytelling capabilities, is there any hope of them being recognized to the point where there interest can expand beyond mere enthusiasm to perhaps a credible profession?
It is a fact that individuals write for varied reasons: some use it as a method of venting, others may have thoughts, beliefs or information they desire to share with the hopes of providing clarity to an audience, others may just have a dream of being revered in a similar status as jk.rowling or john grisham.
While it is true that all things are possible under the sun with belief and effort; to become established and deemed outstanding in an evidently saturated industry is easier said than done.
To be a writer deducts physical exhertion but can place a mental burden on a person when transcended the intention of doing it just for leisure, in fact writing can become somewhat of a disheartening activity when expectations exceed reality.
To be a writer one has to grow beyond a nature of being thin skinned; as to put ones artistry on display may gather favorable attention but simultaneously can turn that individual in a target for criticism:which depending on how one handles critique can either make or break them, and we all know demotivation is a formidable nemesis to the consistensy in the pursuit of one’s passion.
Another setback in the journey of one’s literary endeavours is writers block; a dry season in which the lyrical juices just cant seem to flow, most if not all can attest to such a period which can be frustrating.
Why do we encounter writers block from time to time and how can we overcome it?
While reasons may differ and sometimes may be unidentifiable; it can range from a persons current frame of mind due to external influences or circumstances, sometimes a writer may lack inspiration which is required to indulge in any form of artistry thus cementing the significance of a muse when needs be.
In any activity that a person chooses to indulge in there are bound to be losses and wins,
While pursuing something meaningful there are bound to be setbacks and inconveniences just as to become the best in a field of sports it takes exorbitant amounts of effort involving vigorous taining and exercise with setbacks of overexertion or injury; similarly we as dreamers pursuing a piece of the pie within the community of literary enthusiasts and afficionados need to constantly pump our writing muscles and attempt to refine our craft with the acceptance of constructive criticism and consistensy; for the race is not for the swift but for those who can endure.
